Poland to sign nuclear power cooperation agreement with Japan, says industry ministry
Polish Ministry of Industry confirmed that Poland will sign an agreement with Japan concerning broad cooperation in the field of nuclear power, the ministry wrote on X platform. At the same time, the ministry pointed out that it does not mean building of the second nuclear power plant in Poland.
"The agreement with the Japanese delegation, which will be signed on Thursday, November 7 this year, concerns broadly understood cooperation in the field of nuclear energy. Contrary to reports by some media, it does not imply the conclusion of agreements related to the construction of a second nuclear power plant," the ministry wrote.
"The memorandum will concern, among other things, cooperation at the level of economic entities and industrial technologies. It will include exchange of information, organisation of workshops, public communication on nuclear safety, technological support. The cooperation allows the development of nuclear skills and competencies, which is crucial for the implementation of the Polish nuclear power programme PPEJ," it added.
Japan's Nikkei news agency, quoted by other media, has earlier reported that the Japanese government was to enter into a partnership with the Polish government to support the construction of nuclear power plants in Poland.
