Poland wants changes to EFDD programme; will support authorities in use of new technologies
The government is working on changes to the European Funds for Digital Development 2021-2027 programme, it wants, among other things, to support the public administration in the use of modern technologies for better management and decision-making under Priority II of the programme, according to an entry in the work list of the Council of Ministers.
Changes to Priority I of the EFDD programme are also planned, which will aim to implement a communications voucher programme and stem from an identified need for an instrument to stimulate demand for telecommunications services.
In turn, reallocated funds are planned to be used, among other things, for the implementation of public e-services using new technologies - artificial intelligence; the creation of regulatory sandboxes, e.g. to support AI innovations by establishing a controlled experimental and testing environment in the development and pre-marketing phase, with a view to ensuring regulatory compliance of innovative systems.
Relocated funds are also to be allocated to cybersecurity, including local cybersecurity centres and a project to support selected universities and public administration units in meeting the requirements of the EU Parliament and Council Directive NIS2.
In addition, due to the floods that affected the south-western regions of Poland, the EFDD programme has extended the scope of intervention set out in Priority I and Priority II in the area of ‘Intersectoral cooperation for digital solutions to socio-economic problems' for the benefit of local government units, to include the possibility of implementing projects related to removing the effects of natural disasters.
