Poland's first offshore wind farms' capacity auction to be held on December 17
Poland's energy market regulator URE has announced the first auction to obtain the right to cover the negative balance for electricity generated from offshore wind farms, it will take place on December 17, 2025, with a maximum installed capacity of 4 GW, URE said in a statement.
The auction will take place electronically via the Online Auction Platform. The auction session will start at 8:00 local time and will last until 18:00.
The maximum total installed electrical capacity of offshore wind farms for which the right to cover the negative balance may be granted this year is 4 GW.
As stated, the financing of the support system for offshore wind farms, as in the case of auctions for the sale of electricity from renewable sources, will be realised from the RES fee collected by Poland's grid operator PSE.
