Poland's new climate and energy plan sees 51.8 pct of RES in Polish energy mix by 2030
Poland's climate and energy plan KPEiK's so-called ambitious path provides for a 51.8 percent share of RES in Poland's energy mix by 2030 and 79.8 percent by 2040, according to the Ministry of Climate and Environment MKiS in a presentation on newly adopted plan.
In the heating sector, the climate ministry predicts 36.7 percent RES by 2030 and 67.6 percent by 2040 in the so-called ambitious scenario WAM.
In this scenario, coal-fired combined heat and power plants would cease operation in 2035.
A transitional role for natural gas is also envisaged, with greater use of decarbonised gases from 2035 onwards.
The new KPEiK draft adopted by the Ministry of Climate and Environment also includes a less ambitious, slower transition path WEM.
