Polish banks grant PLN 8.25 bln in housing loans in May, up 31.2 pct y/y
Polish lenders have granted PLN 8.25 billion (EUR 1.93 bln) in housing loans in May, up by 31.2 percent year on year, according to data from the Polish credit information firm BIK. The value of loans granted increased by 1.7 percent month on month.
The number of housing loans rose by 23.7 percent year on year, with a 1.3 percent monthly increase to 18,780.
Year-to-date, the value of loans granted fell to PLN 37.4 billion (EUR 8.8 bln) against PLN 40.5 billion (EUR 9.5 mln) in the same period of 2024.
The number of loans grew by 23.7 percent year on year in May to 18,780. Year-to-date the number of loans amounted to 86,800 against 97,500 in the prior year period.
