Solaris wants to establish engineering and manufacturing bases in US
Poland-originated buses and trolleybuses manufacturer Solaris Bus & Coach plans to establish engineering and production bases in the United States, CEO Javier Iriarte told a conference. The company delivered 1,525 vehicles in 2024 and has a backlog of 1,609.
The CEO reported that Solaris is focusing on two pillars of growth, which are expansion into the zero-emission international bus market and entry into the zero-emission city bus market in the US and Canada.
In December 2024, they signed their first US contract for four electric buses to be delivered to Seattle by 2026.
The contract to ensure entry into the Canadian market guarantees the delivery of 107 trolleybuses, with the possibility of expanding to 500 vehicles.
"Our ambitions go far beyond this first step. We are working on creating an entire operation – an engineering and production base in the US, which will allow us to introduce proven European emission-free bus technologies to the American market," Iriarte said.
The company is nearing completion of its intercity bus projects and plans to launch them in early 2026.
Additionally, Solaris aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2045.
Solaris' business generated revenues of EUR 927 million in 2024, up by more than 13 percent year on year. The company delivered a total of 1,525 vehicles in 2024, an increase of 5 percent in sales compared to the previous year, with a backlog of 1609 vehicles.
