GPW SAWSE's WIG index exceeds100,000 points for first time ever
On Thursday, shortly before the close of trading, the WIG stock index briefly crossed the 100,000-point level, for the first time in history, after rising by around 0.35 percent.
At around 16:45 pm local time, the WIG20 was up by 0.4 percent to 2,794 points and the WIG rose by 0.3 percent to 99,982 points. The mWIG40 went up by 0.2 percent to 7,556 points, while the sWIG80 lost 0.1 percent to 27,449 points.
The main indices of the Warsaw Stock Exchange were losing at the beginning of April, on a wave of global declines triggered by President Donald Trump's imposition of tariffs on his trading partners. The biggest falls on the WSE ended on April 7.
From April 8 to April 23 (Wednesday) close, the blue-chip index went up by about 14.4 percent, while the WIG rose by 13.6 percent. mWIG40 gained a total of about 12.4 percent during this period, while sWIG80 rose 8.5 percent.
