Zabka Group SA (Żabka)Zabka grocer increasingly optimistic about growth in Romania
Listed convenience store chain Zabka Group is very pleased with its business results in Romania and is increasingly optimistic about its development in this market, company representatives told a conference call following the release of Zabka's financial report for the third quarter of 2025.
"We are very pleased with how our business is going in Romania. We entered this market in the middle of last year, and at the end of the last quarter, we had over 120 stores. The number of customer visits has already reached the same level as the average for Polish stores in September, which makes us extremely optimistic about the development of this business," Chief Strategy & Development Officer Tomasz Blicharski told the conference call.
"These are still young stores that are developing, not all services are available yet, and our app is not yet operational. It is a young business, so at this stage of development, the result is above our expectations," he added.
Blicharski said that the QMS segment, i.e. hot meals, is enjoying very high interest, with these products accounting for over 30 percent of sales, on a par with the best, mature chains in Asia.
"Brand awareness is growing, exceeding 40 percent in Bucharest at the end of last quarter and continuing to rise. All this makes us increasingly optimistic about our development in Romania," Chief Strategy & Development Officer assessed.
The group has updated its target potential for openings in the Romanian market.
"Before entering this country, we estimated the potential at 4,000 stores. Now, after a year, in the context of this positive data, we have increased it to 7,600 stores in the long term," said Blicharski.
