Poland's heightened core inflation increases risk of CPI exceeding target, says c. bank governor
The heightened core inflation in Poland increases the risk of CPI exceeding the central bank's target, central bank NBP governor Adam Glapinski told a press conference following the MPC decision-making meeting.
"The MPC remains cautious and does not want to act too hastily. Firstly, despite the decline, inflation exceeds the midpoint of our target of 2.5 percent. Furthermore, core inflation remains stubbornly above 3 percent," Glapinski stressed.
"Elevated core inflation increases the risk of headline inflation breaking out of the target range in the event of energy and food price increases, which could occur at any time," he added.
