Polish climate ministry to allocate PLN 1 bln to Energy for countryside programme

Poland's Ministry of Climate and Environment (MKiS) has allocated a total of PLN 1 billion (EUR 236.4 mln) for a new call for RES projects under the Energy for Countryside programme, Climate and Environment Minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska announced. A further PLN 1 billion (EUR 236.4 mln) has been earmarked for pending applications from the first call.

The head of the Ministry of Climate and Environment informed that last year Poland had obtained PLN 2 billion (EUR 472.8 mln) for this programme from the EU Modernisation Fund.

"By a joint decision of the Ministry of Climate and Environment and the management board of Poland's National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOSiGW), we have allocated PLN 1 billion for the consideration of applications that were received in the first call, but did not catch the available pool of funds," climate and environment minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska said.

"At the same time, we are opening a call for all new applicants who have not yet started investments and who would like to build their own energy sources in rural areas (...) or increase the efficiency of their own farms through participation in an energy cooperative, and we will allocate another PLN 1 billion for this purpose," she explained.

She added that the new call starts on Monday and will last until December 19 or until the funds are run out.

According to the minister, a total of 370 applications for nearly PLN 2 billion (EUR 472.8 mln) were received in the first call, but only PLN 1 billion (EUR 236.4 mln)was then available in the programme.

Photovoltaic installations and wind turbines can be covered entirely by the subsidy, in a maximum amount of PLN 25 million (EUR 5.9 mln). Biogas and hydropower plants can be financed up to 65 percent in the maximum amount of PLN 20 million (EUR 4.7 mln).
