Poland's Ministry of Climate and Environment has submitted a self-amendment to the Council of Ministers on postponing the deposit-return scheme by six months, deputy climate minister Anita Sowinska announced on X.
"We have submitted a self-amendment to the Council of Ministers to postpone the deposit-return scheme by 6 months. It is now all in the hands of the Prime Minister. We need a deposit-return scheme for environmental, social and economic reasons," Sowinska wrote.
On Wednesday, climate minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska reported that the scheme may not be ready to come into force from January 1, with the ministry considering a delay of around six months.
