Tusk appeals to coalition members for unity
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has addressed the leaders of the government coalition parties to stay united in the face of renegotiations of the coalition agreement.
Following the victory of Karol Nawrocki, who was supported by the socially-conservative Law and Justice (PiS) opposition in the presidential election, the leaders of the coalition which was formed ahead of the October 15, 2023 parliamentary election, are discussing a potential government reshuffle and a common mode of functioning. Their last meeting took place on Monday and the next one is scheduled for the following week.
Tusk addressed his partners in a post on the X platform on Thursday.
"The October 15 coalition leaders face a serious test. I understand, it's difficult to find legal and effective ways to act within this systemic mess we have inherited from PiS. If you are not sure how to act, to be on the safe side, conduct yourselves decently. And do not allow yourselves to be divided," he wrote.
