GPW SAWSE's share turnover up 33.4 pct y/y to PLN 44.5 bln in April
The total value of share trading on the Warsaw Stock Exchange's Main Market amounted to PLN 44.5 billion (EUR 10.4 bln) in April, which means an increase of 33.4 percent year on year, WSE's operator GPW said in a press release. Since the beginning of 2025, the WSE has been one of the best performing stock markets in the world with the main indices rising so far by more than 25 percent.
Order book turnover amounted to PLN 43.1 billion (EUR 10.1 bln), up 37.6 percent year on year. The average daily value of order book trading in shares was PLN 2.15 billion (EUR 502.9 mln), up 44.5 percent year on year.
More than three decades after establishing the Warsaw Stock Exchange, on April 24, 2025, the WIG index finished above the symbolic 100,000-point mark for the first time in history. Since the beginning of 2025, the WSE has been one of the best performing stock markets in the world. The main indices have so far risen by more than 25 percent.
The total value of trading in ETFs and ETCs on the WSE increased by 194.1 percent year on year, reaching a record high of PLN 366 million (EUR 85.6 mln).
In April 2025, the volume of derivatives trading on the WSE totalled 1.1 million units, up 5.6 percent year on year. Index contracts accounted for the largest share of this result, with volume reaching 671,500 units, 1.2 percent more than in the prior year period.
The volume of trading in currency futures increased by 12.4 percent year on year to 227,000 and the volume of trading in equity futures rose by 12.5 percent year on year to 138,400.
The capitalisation of the 363 domestic companies listed on the WSE Main Market in April amounted to PLN 916.3 billion (EUR 214.2 billion). The total capitalisation of all 406 companies on the Main Market, both domestic and foreign, reached PLN 1,916.5 billion (EUR 448 billion).
