Pole to be appointed as head of EC Energy Directorate-General
The European Commission has decided to nominate Lukasz Kolinski for the office of EC Director-General for Energy (DG ENER), the EC announced after a meeting of the College of Commissioners.
"The department is responsible for ensuring that all Europeans have access to affordable, secure, reliable and clean energy and for promoting efficient energy production and use," the EC wrote in the statement.
"The date of entry into force [of the decision - PAP ed.] will be set later," it added.
Lukasz Kolinski has been involved with EU institutions since 2005; he was, among others, acting head of DG ENER from September 2024 - dealing with the green energy transition and integration of the European energy system, and from 2018 to 2021 he headed the EC's unit for economic analysis and financial instruments in the same directorate.
Previously, he was also, among other things, energy advisor to current Prime Minister Donald Tusk when he served as President of the European Council and a member of the cabinet of former President Herman Van Rompuy.
