LW Bogdanka SABogdanka coal posts PLN 264.7 mln cons. net profit in H1 2025, in line with estimates
Listed coal mining group Bogdanka posted a PLN 264.7 million (EUR 62.2 mln) consolidated net profit in the first half of 2025, in line with earlier estimates, the company said in a market filing. During this period, the group recorded PLN 1,522.6 million (EUR 358.42) in sales revenue and PLN 310.8 million (EUR 73.2 mln) in EBIT, also in line with estimates.
Bogdanka reported that the financial results achieved by the group in the first half of 2025 were affected by lower coal sales prices, partially offset by higher sales. In addition, the results for the period were also significantly influenced by compensation received and lower depreciation resulting from the lower carrying amount of fixed assets in connection with impairment losses recognised in 2024.
Gross coal production in the first half of 2025 increased by 6.0 percent year on year, i.e. by 334,000 tonnes to 5,863,000 tonnes, commercial coal production in this period amounted to 3,872,000 tonnes, i.e. 375,000 tonnes more than in the prior year period, with a yield of 66.0 percent against 63.2 percent in the first half of 2024.
In the first half of the year, commercial coal sales amounted to 4,002,000 tonnes, up by 10.3 percent year on year. In the second quarter of 2025, coal sales fell by 5.7 percent year on year, amounting to 1,765,000 tonnes.
It was reported that approximately 80 percent of coal sales (in terms of value) in the first half of 2025 were made to listed power utility Enea's generating unit, Enea Wytwarzanie, and power plant Enea Elektrownia Polaniec.
