Enea SAEnea power appoints local content representative; will seek solutions regarding blocks in Polaniec
Listed power utility Enea has appointed a management representative for local content in order to better prepare for cooperation with partners in the domestic supply chain, group representatives told a press conference. Due to a lack of bidders in the tender for new units in Polaniec, Enea is analysing various scenarios. One option is to select a contractor through a single-source procurement procedure.
"We want to cooperate effectively in the context of responsible value chain development, and our strategy includes nearly PLN 108 billion in investments," Enea's deputy CEO Dalida Gepfert told the press conference.
"This is not only a huge effort on the part of our organisation, but also a huge challenge for our partners with whom we would like to cooperate and implement these investments," she added.
As deputy CEO Gepftert pointed out, supply security is crucial to the implementation of the investment programme.
"We would like to secure the support of our local contractors in performing these investments," she said.
Enea wants to reorganise within the group to meet these challenges and hopes that one of the benefits will be increased competitiveness for Polish companies, as this should improve their chances of winning tenders. It also hopes to shorten the supply chain – in cooperation with domestic suppliers and universities in the field of R&D.
"This obviously requires us to build specific partnerships and cooperation, which is why we have already appointed a management representative for local content, Jaroslaw Tokarczuk, who is already implementing the programme," Enea's deputy CEO said.
She added Tokarczuk will coordinate all activities within the group so that Enea can become more flexible and prepare for cooperation with its partners.
As Gepfert noted, the group is trying to communicate its investment plans in the long term.
"We are all trying to build everything at the same time, which increases competition. On the one hand, this is good, but on the other hand, if we have a fairly shallow market, which seems to be the case today, it can cause supply constraints," she told the conference.
Enea's CEO Grzegorz Kinelski pointed out that supply chain constraints may have contributed to the lack of bidders in the tender for the construction of steam and gas units at the Polaniec Power Plant.
"We will continue to look for solutions, we are optimistic, but we are also considering all scenarios," he added.
According to him, one of the options being considered is the selection of a contractor through a single-source procurement procedure.
The Enea group's investment plan for 2025 assumes PLN 7.9 billion (EUR 1.9 bln) in expenditure. After three quarters of the year, the group's CAPEX amounted to PLN 4.4 billion (EUR 1 bln) against PLN 5.5 billion (EUR 1.3 bln) planned for this period.
