Marek Woszczyk takes office as CEO of Poland's nuclear power SPV PEJ starting July 1
Starting Tuesday, July 1, former head of Poland's energy market regulator URE and listed power utility PGE Marek Woszczyk takes over the reins of the 100-percent state-owned nuclear power SPV PEJ, the company responsible for building Poland's first nuclear power plant. Before Woszczyk, the company was headed by PEJ's deputy CEO Piotr Piela as acting CEO.
Marek Woszczyk was, among other things, the head of Poland's energy market regulator URE in 2011–2013 and the CEO of listed power utility PGE in 2013–2016.
On Friday, an extraordinary meeting of shareholders of Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ) decided to appoint Marek Woszczyk as CEO of the company's management board and Bogumila Ozarska-Karbowiak as deputy CEO of the management board, effective July 1, 2025.
Piotr Piela and Tomasz Szubiela remain on the PEJ management board as deputy CEOs.
On June 25, the Ministry of Industry submitted for consultation a draft update of the Polish Nuclear Power Programme (PPEJ), according to which the first nuclear power plant unit in Pomerania is to commence commercial operation in 2036. The consultation on the document will last until July 25.
