PKO BP SAPKO BP lender's risk costs in corporate segment return to pre-pandemic levels
Poland's largest lender by asstes PKO BP is seeing a deterioration in the quality of its corporate loan portfolio, risk costs in this segment have returned to pre-pandemic levels, the bank's deputy CEO overseeing the risk management area Piotr Mazur said.
"In the mortgage portfolio we do not see any negative trends, in the consumer finance portfolio growth is still low, we even see some growth reduction there," Mazur said at the conference.
"The business portfolio - during the pandemic period we had a significant decrease in the cost of risk (...) at the moment this growth is rising slightly, but also without panic - we are back to normal growth, we are back to a state of normality," he added.
He reiterated that legal risk charges would be on a downward trend in the coming quarters.
PKO BP's credit risk expense ratio fell to 43bps after the third quarter, and rose to 50bps in the third quarter alone from 13bps in the second quarter.
