Santander Bank Polska SASantander BP lender not obliged to maintain additional own funds requirement at group level
Listed lender Santander BP, the unit of Spanish Banco Santander, has received a decision from Poland's financial market regulator KNF stating that the decision ordering it to maintain an additional own funds requirement at the bank's capital group level has expired, the lender said in a market filing.
Previously, KNF had recommended maintaining own funds to cover the additional capital requirement to cover the risk arising from mortgage-backed foreign currency loans and advances to households at the bank's capital group level, of 0.013 percentage points, above the total capital ratio, which should consist of at least 75 percent Tier 1 capital (corresponding to a capital requirement of 0.010 percentage points above the Tier 1 capital ratio) and at least 56.25 percent Common Equity Tier 1 capital (corresponding to a capital requirement of 0.007 percentage points above the Common Equity Tier 1 capital.
