Imports of white goods to Poland surged in Q3, driven by imports from China - c. bank
Poland's central bank NBP reported a strong increase in the import of consumer goods, particularly household appliances from China, in its full balance of payments for the third quarter 2024.
"Of key importance in the increase in total imports in the third quarter of 2024 was the demand for consumer goods. The value of their imports increased in the period under review by 10.6 percent year on year, while total imports in other categories decreased by 0.8 percent," the NBP said.
The NBP noted a large year-on-year increase (almost 20.0 percent) in the import of durable goods, with a particularly large increase in the import of household appliances (up 29.1 percent year on year).
Imports of furniture (20.8 percent) and TV sets (12.7 percent) also increased significantly.
The largest increases in imports of these product groups came from China, in case of white goods the imports from China surged by 53,0 proc. y/y, which led to the increase of China's share in white good imports to Poland 48.0 pct in Q3'2024.
