Poland to receive PLN 8-12 bln in EU funds within national recovery plan KPO in summer

In the summer, following the formally completed revision of the national recovery plan KPO, Poland expects to disburse the next tranche of EU funds within the plan; it will be around PLN 8-12 billion (EUR 1.9-2.8 bln), the exact amount will be known in about a month, Poland's development funds and regional policy minister Katarzyna Pelczynska-Nalecz told a press conference.

"The change [as a result of completed revision - MI ed.] will be adopted formally within a month and then within a next few weeks, in the summer, we expect the disbursement," Pelczynska-Nalecz said.

"We don't know yet it what funds we are talking here, it depends on the evaluation of the investments being made. Roughly speaking, it will be between (PLN) 8 and 12 billion, and the exact amount will become clear within 1-1.5 months," she added.

The minister continued that there will certainly be another revision ("perhaps two more") of the national recovery plan KPO - "and a big one at that".

On May 23, development funds deputy minister Jan Szyszko said that after the summer revision, another KPO transfer should be expected in July, probably to the tune of around PLN 10 billion (EUR 2.35 bln).

The Ministry of Development Funds and Regional Policy (MFiPR) reported last week that 758,000 agreements have already been signed with beneficiaries under Poland's national recovery plan, totalling over PLN 106 billion (EUR 24.95 bln). They concern investments in areas such as railway infrastructure, broadband internet access, energy and digital transformation or healthcare.

The national recovery plan comprises 57 investments and 54 reforms, with a budget for Poland of EUR 59.8 billion, including EUR 25.27 billion in grants and EUR 34.54 billion in preferential loans.

Of this amount, PLN 67 billion (EUR 15.8 bln) has already been transferred to Poland so far; later this year, the MFiPR plans to submit the sixth and seventh payment applications to the European Commission.
