Poland sees transfers made by working migrants at PLN 5.6 bln in Q1 2025 - c. bank
In the first quarter of 2025, transfers from Poland made by working migrants amounted to PLN 5.6 billion (EUR 1.3 bln), down by PLN 300 million (EUR 70.56 mln) year on year, Poland's central bank NBP reported in its full balance of payments. Ukraine saw the inflow of 53.3 percent of the total transfers.
"In the first quarter of 2025, the funds transferred abroad by foreigners working in Poland amounted to PLN 5.6 billion. This was a decrease of PLN 0.3 billion compared to the prior year period," NBP wrote.
"The main reason for this decrease was the declining total amount of salaries of seasonal and border workers," it added.
Transfers from short-term migrants amounted to PLN 2.6 billion (EUR 611.5 mln), against PLN 3.5 billion (EUR 823.2 mln) in the prior year period.
The geographical structure was still dominated by transfers made to Ukraine as they reached PLN 3.0 billion (EUR 705.6 mln) and accounted for 53.3 percent of all funds. Moreover, transfers to other countries neighbouring Poland were increasing, most notably to Belarus.
