Poland’s new EIB guarantee fund to unlock PLN 10 bln in loans for tech-focused companies
Poland, in partnership with the European Investment Bank, is launching a new guarantee fund under Poland's national recovery plan KPO revision to support companies investing in new technologies, development funds and regional policy minister Katarzyna Pelczynska-Nalecz told a conference. PLN 670 million (EUR 157.7 mln) in guarantees will enable up to PLN 10 billion (EUR 2.4 bln) in loans for businesses.
"We have set ourselves the goal of change. One hundred percent of what we wanted to change at this stage of the national recovery plan KPO has been achieved," Pelczynska-Nalecz said.
She explained that the fund is aimed at helping Polish firms grow technologically, stating, "We are creating, together with the European Investment Bank, a new guarantee fund for Polish enterprises that will be able to obtain affordable loans for risky, technology-related projects."
"We are allocating PLN 670 million to these guarantees, which will translate into PLN 10 billion in loans for Polish companies that want to grow technologically. This is the second major change," she emphasized.
The minister noted that the guarantee program is part of a broader revision of the KPO, which also includes the creation of a PLN 25 billion (EUR 5.9 bln) Defense and Security Fund and new instruments to boost innovation.
She explained that the guarantee scheme will help companies secure financing for high-risk, innovative projects, expanding access to credit for firms that have exhausted other support limits.
