Poland's October current account surplus in liquid year terms down to 0.4 pct of GDP
The current account surplus in October 2024 in liquid year terms narrowed to 0.4 percent of GDP, Poland's Ministry of Finance reported on Thursday.
"Taking into account the new quarterly data, the current account surplus in October 2024 in liquid year terms decreased to 0.4 percent of GDP. For the sixth consecutive month, the annual growth of imports was clearly higher than that of exports," the finance ministry wrote in the statement.
Exports continued to be constrained by low demand in the economies of Poland's main trading partners. Imports, on the other hand, benefited from an increase in domestic demand.
The Ministry of Finance reported that the primary income deficit in relation to GDP remained the main source of the negative contribution to the current account.
The capital account surplus amounted to 0.6 percent of GDP increasing the positive loan/debt ratio (1.0 percent of GDP).
