Polish lignite mining trade unions and energy companies have agreed on working conditions and wages following the spin-off of coal assets, Poland's Social Dialogue Council (RDS) said in a statement.
"During the sitting, representatives of trade unions and energy groups concluded an agreement on stable and safe working conditions and wages for employees, in the context of the transitions of workplaces or their parts carried out in preparation for the transformation process of the electricity sector and the lignite mining industry, the spin-off of coal production and mining assets," RDS said in the statement.
It added that the provisions of the agreement are intended to guarantee the preservation of the employees' rights and interests under the labour law and collective labour law regulations in force at the employers.
"In addition, the agreement is of a preliminary nature in the process of agreeing a social contract for the transformation of the power sector and the lignite mining industry with regard to the conventional coal-fired units spin-off," the Polish Social Dialogue Council wrote.
"The signing of the agreement is a necessary step to conclude a social contract in the process of transformation of the energy sector and the lignite mining industry leading to the spin-off of conventional coal-fired units from the groups: PGE, Energa, Enea, Tauron. It will remain in force until the date of entry into force of the social agreement," it added.
