Polish MPC's Tyrowicz request for 200 bps rate hike rejected again at April sitting
In April, Poland's Monetary Policy Council again rejected the proposal for a 200 basis points interest rate hike, which was supported only by one member Joanna Tyrowicz, Poland's central bank NBP reported. The others present at the meeting were against it; no other motions were made.
Tyrowicz has been requesting a 200 basis points rate hike since November 2023.
In April, the MPC has kept rates unchanged, including the benchmark rate of 5.75 percent.
In May, the MPC has cut interest rates by 50 bps, including the reference rate to 5.25 percent
