Polish zloty current exchange rate provides balance; appreciation not desired - Dep. FinMin
So far, the level of the Polish zloty exchange rate gave a balance, appreciation would not be desirable, but the Ministry of Finance does not intend to actively work in this direction, the deputy finance minister Jurand Drop told the journalists on the sidelines of the European Capital Markets Forum in Warsaw.
"We [the Ministry of Finance - PAP ed.] are always neutral on the exchange rate when it comes to our actions. (...) However, (...) what we read is rather how the EUR/USD behaves and what is happening in the market of other currencies. Here we see a significant connection," Drop said.
"However, the level of the exchange rate so far has provided some balance which is always better to keep, and probably appreciation is not something that would be desirable, but we are not going to operate actively," he added.
The deputy minister of finance assessed that, in his view, the Polish zloty exchange rate is not harmful to Poland's economy.
