Polish ammunition plant to manufacture million rounds per day - PM
Mesko, a Polish ammunition producer, will turn out a million small-calibre rounds daily, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Friday at the opening of Mesko's new production hall in the south-central city of Skarzysko-Kamienna.
"We'll be producing, and I don't want to exaggerate, but if my understanding is correct, a million a day," Tusk said.
"There is no more important task - and for me it is absolutely the highest priority - to build a safe Poland week by week, month by month, also through such investments such as those made here in Mesko," he added.
The prime minister said his government had been working for several months on a project to increase the domestic share of the country's military purchases.
On its website, Mesko boasts a century of experience in production, saying it is a renowned supplier of ammunition and rockets for both the Polish and NATO armed forces. (PAP)
