Poland does not face egg shortage - newspaper
Poland's yearly egg exports amount to almost EUR 500 million and Polish consumers need not worry about empty shelves, the Rzeczpospolita daily has written.
In an article published on Wednesday, Rzeczpospolita wrote that Poland stood as one of the leading egg exporters globally. While Polish eggs predominantly supply markets in the European Union, they are also exported to other regions.
Data from Akcenty, an international payment specialist, indicated Poland was second only to the Netherlands in terms of egg export value, positioning it among top exporters of that product worldwide.
"According to the International Trade Centre, Poland ranks among the foremost exporters of dairy and animal products," the daily further stated.
"In 2024, the export value of dairy products from Poland reached EUR 3.8 billion, with nearly EUR 500 million coming from egg sales," it added.
Radoslaw Jarema, the head of Akcenty's Polish division, said that egg exports represented a vital component of the national agri-food sector.
"Polish eggs are esteemed for their superior quality, adherence to rigorous EU standards, and competitive pricing," he remarked.
The primary destinations for Polish egg exports include Germany, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic, with additional markets in Israel and Iraq.
"The USA is also a major producer of eggs; however, due to an outbreak of avian influenza, 12 million hens were culled in February alone. As a result, there is a global shortage of eggs, and in January 2025, Poland's egg exports surged by 35 percent compared to December," Rzeczpospolita pointed out.
