Polish climate ministry wants to introduce environmental subsidy for municipalities
The Polish Ministry of Climate and Environment wants to introduce an ecological subvention for municipalities that would create various forms of nature protection, which will compensate them for their tax losses, Climate and Environment Minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska told the Polish National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management NFOSiGW conference for municipalities.
"We are introducing an environmental subsidy, which will give an incentive in that it will create compensations for municipalities that would like to create various forms of nature conservation," Hennig-Kloska said.
She explained that this includes municipalities that want to expand the area of national parks or that have forest areas that are not suitable for economic use, so that various forms of nature conservation can be created there.
"The environmental subsidy, which we want to introduce into law, will make up for either the shortfall in CIT revenue or the shortfall in land tax revenue from forests or national parks," the head of the climate ministry added.
"We do not want to introduce this without the participation of the municipalities," she pointed out.
The government adopted the draft budget law for 2025 at the end of August, after which it was referred to the Social Dialogue Council.
According to the draft adopted by the government, the budget deficit in 2025 will amount to PLN 289 billion (EUR 67.6 mln).
