Poland's interest rates could fall very low if CPI falls permanently to 2.5 pct, says c. bank governor
If CPI inflation falls permanently to 2.5 percent, then interest rates will go down to a very low level, Poland's central bank NBP governor Adam Glapinski told Thursday's press conference following the decision-making meeting held by the Monetary Policy Council on July 1-2.
"If inflation goes down to 2.5 percent and there is a NBP's prediction that there will be little deviation in the next quarters, we will go boldly down to a very low level of interest rates to encourage economic growth," Glapinski said.
"The law obliges us over the fight against inflation, and if this target is permanently achieved, I repeat - permanently, then all our effort is directed towards supporting economic growth," he added.
